Its a Class A FM station with 6500 watt transmitter on the north side of Pahrump NV. The studios are housed in a 1999 manufactured home. Under any other circumstances it would blend in with over 6600 other FM stations across the US.
Yet to some Ellgabber's it is something special. It is the only FM station that was founded by the late Art and Ramona Bell in 2002*. In the early spring of 2006 Karen Jackson took the helm of the station at Art Bell's request. On May 18, 2008, Jackson purchased it.
KNYE features a blend of sunny classic light rock and pop in a playlist that seems to reflect the desert skies. It is also the flagship station of
Midnight in the Desert hosted by Dave Schrader.
KNYE is also unique in that it really is a beacon or lighthouse to Pahrump in the spirit of community radio. In addition to local ads and news, Karen Jackson is a focal point in driving various causes and charities that help in the valley and beyond. Examples: Symphony Animal Foundation, Pahrump Volunteer Firefighters, Retired Seniors, and the Pahrump Community Garden.
