These commercials are disturbing in that they craft an alternate 'legit drug' reality for, of all demographics, boomers!

We've gone straight from "The Valley of the Dolls" to some benighted pharmaceutical stage play of the "Golden Girls" with "Don't Worry, Be Happy" as the new theme song.

Pass the Depends and Otsezla, I feel a fork off reality is just around the corner. ::)

They target kids too. That's more of a real-life thing, though. The kids are diagnosed and drugged for things that would have been considered typical behavior when we were young. They'd try to force a pharmacy on me for (add the alphabet disorders of your choice) if I was in grade school now.

I detest the whole Ritalin/Aderal thing as it is my belief that all these attention span diagnoses are biased against boys over girls. Boys tend to be risk takers, daydreamers, short attention spanners, etc. But that is NORMAL boy behavior! So you're right you, and most certainly I, would be doped up into complicit servitude while they tried to "help" us determine if perhaps we have a female side that just needs a little surgical intervention to express itself! >:( >:( >:(

Another thing is that I don't remember all of these food allergies back then. A peanut butter sandwich is treated like a deadly weapon in public schools now. Jars of Jif are quarantined like poisonous or radioactive substances. A bag of Planter's peanuts is as deadly as a MGTOW school shooter.

Poor boys are medicated and pathologized now just because they aren't girls. Still, they have to stress "girl power" at a time when boys are falling behind like never before. Never mind the fact that girls surpass boys in almost all categories during a certain age range, even in strength when they're in junior high school. I thought progressives championed the underdog.

I never went to daycare. I had a babysitter for a bit. I stayed with neighbors for a while, and I stayed by myself in fifth grade or sixth grade. I have no PTSD from the experience.
I saw that, and I wasn't surprised.

Music died because of file sharing. Took the money out of the business. The 70s and 80s has dozens of genres, and 1000s of bands. Now we’re lucky if we get a Bieber ever few years.

Movies have been a joke since the advent of inexpensive CGI. Now everything is CGI and pure crap.

Look what big tech is doing. Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, used to have to innovate and succeeded when they made new products people wanted. Now they just innovate different scams to force people to “upgrade”.

Same crap is going on in the medical industry. Doctors know nothing about health and wellness. They simply know how to write prescriptions. The choice based on which bimbo pharma rep buys their office the best lunch. Surgical medicine is a bit more legit, although even that has its scams. Carpotunnel surgury anyone?

It’s all a product of the worthless education industry and modern media that don’t teach critical thinking, but rather brainwash fools into what to believe.

Millenials are a lost cause. But gen Z is coming and they’re bringing fresh thinking and a revolt against modern political correctness and inside the box thinking.

Look at all the horseshift stories just this year that the media pushed so hard that have fallen completely apart. Russia collusion. Covington kids. Jussie Smullet. This house of cards is ready to fall.
You make good points about Big Pharma.  Did you know that paraprofessionals are now allowed to prescribe mental health drugs to children?  Their job title actually is (no sarcasm here) "prescribers".  The first time I heard it I thought someone was being sarcastic about a psychiatrist!

That's a great post, and I disagree with just one thing, and that's extremely depressing. I'll be even more pessimistic and say that Generation Z is no more conservative and/or traditional than Millennials. Keep in mind that the oldest Millennials are well into their thirties now. Those blue-haired college kids, who embrace socialism while they eschew Martin Luther King Jr. as a White supremacist, are in Generation Z.

You brought up a pet peeve of mine. I hate those commercials from pharmaceutical companies, and they make me actually miss the juvenile ads of our youth. These commercials seem to be set in the same parallel universe, one that has a soap opera fake vibe, where the citizens happily pop pills to cope with various disorders that few individuals actually have, and the "medicine" has *way* more costs (hemophilia, lymphoma, hallucinations, suicide) than benefits, and you need a new pill to counteract the first pill. I actually saw a commercial for a pill to help sufferers who cry or laugh uncontrollably, and I first thought that it was an ad for a new comedy!
After starting blood pressure medicines, one caused "oral allergy syndrome" (even long after stopping the drug) and I also have to take something daily for side effects.  I have some side effects which are bearable, but others that concern me & aren't treated yet.

However, at this point it seems to be well worth the risk.  I just don't understand why manufacturers don't isolate out the negative components, or build-in antidotes for common side effects.  Consumers should have a choice between the straight pill or the side-effect modified pill.

Just like consumers should be able to open their own vaccine packages, read the label, and find that manufacturers have eliminated mercury (thirmesol), camphor, and egg.  We should be able to get allergen free immunizations and TB tests.

Just like we should be able to purchase a contraceptive from which the abortifascients are removed.  Some couples would be willing to accept a 10% risk of pregnancy if that eliminated the chance of an unwitting abortion.  Besides, those couples could use a combination of that pill with a barrier contraceptive method such as a condom or spermicide.

"They" say there are no kickbacks in medicine, but I don't believe it.  I have had way too many doctors try to push way too many pills.  One doctor tried to get me to accept a prescription for something I didn't need at all!  I asked why she wanted me to take it and her response was, "Well, we just got these new pills in!"   ::)

It is possible and even likely that we're simply seeing the cumulative effects of factory food and its chemical undertow. That ought not be passed over.

This happens ALL the time.

The pill peddlers realized that the junky always goes to the pusher for treatment.

The “Greatest Generation” came home from the war and depression and headed for the psychiatrist’s couch. They learned to take a pill for every ill. Part of the original hippie turn to nature was a rebellion against their pill-popping parents. That didn’t last long, did it?

Solid context there. And weed now replaces smokes - so it goes. 8)

The "opioid family dynasty", who pushed pain pills on the populace, immediately comes to mind. The pharmaceutical industry makes Escobar look like a temperate prohibitionist.

That's likely a contributing factor. I place most of the blame on magical spells from radical feminists.

Sickness is more profitable than health just like war is more profitable than peace. A healthy man will wage war on a sick society in order to have peace of mind.
