Deep state wifi suck

Your internet-of-shit smart lightbulb is probably storing your wifi password in the clear, ready to be recovered by wily dumpster-divers; Limited Results discovered the security worst-practice during a teardown of a Lifx bulb; and that's just for starters: the bulbs also store their RSA private key and root passwords in the clear and have no security measures to prevent malicious reflashings of their ROMs with exploits, network probes and other nasties.

Of course it never ends at wifi...

https://fossbytes.com/tiktok-fine-collecting-data-from-teens/

If you’re from the Indian subcontinent, there are strong chances that you must have heard about TikTok app, which was formerly known as Musical.ly. The app recently crossed 1 billion downloads on Google Play Store and App Store, out of which 250 million downloads are from India.

A US-based industry self-regulatory group called Children’s  Advertising Review Unit (CARU) filed a complaint to FTC regarding TikTok’s data collection policies from users who are aged under 13. According to CARU, the app violates U.S. children’s privacy law by collecting the personal data of under age users without their parents’ consent.

face book does the same, and worse. Going so far as to get data from otherwise unrelated mobile apps, such as menstrual cycles and iot devices.
statistics can be used to prove anything. 14% of the people know this.

100% true and then some. There also was an interesting article written on someone who tried to de-google themselves from the net for a period of 2 weeks and found it to be a massively broken cyber experience when all the google add-ons and protocols were banished.

But for FB to be sucking data from non-users, that is morally bankrupt to the core.

Then again we know what FB was designed to replace:

Best plan of all.  If its anything really important, don't put it on the net including "the cloud" in the first place.
