Article 13: EU countries approve copyright directive

sad day for the EU. a broad ranging copyright law requires obtaining permission from the copyright holder before sharing content.
"Article 13 is the proposal that would require online platforms to monitor their users’ uploads and try to prevent copyright infringement through automated filtering."

this will effect ALL content , including parodies such as the Bartcast's woofests, by removing it via automatic means. this would require Bart to file for a exemption (under the parody clause)  for this to be available in the EU.

ill use this example:
youtube scans the lasted woo from Bart Ell. it says "i found ride my seesaw  by the moody blues in this video. Bart Ell != moody blues . content removed."

If I use a song then the YouTube filters identify it and let you know the status.
Some songs are blocked worldwide while the majority allow you to use them.
You can't monetize the video and YouTube automatically assigns monetization to the rights holders.
This new law requires YouTube to now do this on uploads... so if a song is blocked worldwide then the upload will be blocked.
I would imagine that will only be applicable to uploads occurring in EU and, for the rest of the world, our uploads would just be blocked in the EU.
Nothing changes on my end.
