Half of the cookware in my dump have lids.  I'll use the 17" wok for the 16" pan, etc...it stops shit from exploding on you and slows the escape of heat.
Yes, no exploding brownish gobs on shirts!  Even a hovel can be charming or elegant - and a rich home can be a dump.  My bachelor neighbor moved into assisted living.  His home was like a dirty toolbox.  He made ammo on his BBQ and had gun supplies all over the kitchen and back patio.  Place hadn't been dusted in decades.  Dirt everywhere.  Whew, I was glad to get out of there.

Mine is a dump mainly because the construction crews had a labor dispute with the company.  Sloppy construction, poor choice of materials some design issues because the architect didn't know the building code and didn't think about the effect of bugs and ocean air on the materials.  A pretty money pit though.

Eh, nevermind...

Buy a cast iron chicken fryer. It’s like a Dutch oven with a skillet handle. You can even get them with matching skillets as lids. Good for everything - stove top, oven, campfire.
I second this idea.
Don't forget to properly season the Cast Iron before your first use.
Don't buy the thin crap either. It should be heavy.

Oh, this is kind of a niche store, but the $ / value ratio is very good.

Pans are a gateway utensil. Stick with pots.

Well, that's not your fault.  Sounds like you keep it as well as you can.  I had a place like that once, but a good clean up and a little decor do go a long way, huh.  As long as the roof is maintained!

Thanks again for all of your help. I really appreciate all of the input. I did try out the red copper pan, try being the key word, and wasn’t really that impressed. The handle on the end makes it a bit a awkward and the weight is just not there. I was surprised that after the second use, I was able to knock a pice of the coating off the side by cracking an egg on it. Would I buy it for a vacation home, possibly, for an everyday use pan, no.

So I guess that brings me to the Berg Unboxing moment. Since I have a good 10” Wagner cast iron skillet, I decided to go for the MADE IN THE USA, All-Clad D3 12” with lid and the 8” pan. I think I’ll try these out for a bit before I pull the trigger on the pots. Luckily, the moped let me use a few of hers to get me by. I’ve got a few Omaha Steak fillets in the fridge. I think I’ll try one in one of the new pans and one in the cast iron later this evening. I’m going to try and duck out of work a bit early so I can season one of these.

Don’t you know to always crack eggs on a flat surface, not an edge? Jacques Pepin will have your ass.

Well shit! I’ve always done it like that. I want to scramble the egg in the pan not the counter. Are you’re really not supposed to?

I will attempt this in the morning. I’ll let you know how many I smash compared to scrambling.
