Premiering Tonight: The Gods of Tennis on PBS

Framed through the world-famous Wimbledon tournament, this series revisits a golden age of tennis during the 1970s and 1980s that changed the sport forever. Contributors include Billie Jean King, John McEnroe, Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, Sue Barker, Clare Balding, Sir Trevor McDonald, Bjorn Borg, Pat Cash, John Lloyd, Tracy Austin, Jonathan Ross, Miriam Margolyes, Martina Navratilova, and Pam Shriver.

I fondly remember the 70's as a Golden Age for watching Tennis.

The need to find some Bobby Riggs interviews.  He legitimized women's tennis.

Are you sure that it wasn't Billie Jean King?

Yes. Nobody paid attention to women's tennis until Bobby worked out a way to pay his gambling debts.  When they paid attention they spotted Chris and Martina and stayed tuned in.  I guess the actual tennis fans watched Billie Jean.
