Forget about the faces of the faces of Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall. The Shining, horror novel by Stephen King is a good scary read. What does it mean to SHINE? In the movie, Dick Hallorann explains it well.
“Well, you know, Doc, when something happens, you can leave a trace of itself behind. Say like, if someone burns toast. Well, maybe things that happen leave other kinds of traces behind. Not things that anyone can notice, but things that people who "shine" can see.”
Some of my thoughts about SHINING. I believe some people do shine a light. Something on the other side sees the light and reacts in some way. If you get two shining people together in one location, something is bound to occur.

To me, H.P. Lovecraft is perfect for Halloween. This group did all his stories in two different versions. One with analysis of his stories with sequences fully acted

And the ones I prefer. A great voice reading the stories. The storyteller does a perfect job and there is just a little background music and effects. Very atmospheric and plenty creepy. Like being read a scary bedtime story
