it sure does. i think firearms are great. the moral panic over "long guns" is ridiculous. concealed weapons are far more likely to kill or injure someone than a semi automatic rifle.

Not great home defense though. You'd be better off with a shotgun and a flashlight. And in a vehicle you need a handgun. Depends on the purpose.
I'm pro conceal carry so I'm probably in the minority.
There was a little girl,

Right in the middle of her forehead.
            When she was good,
            She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

Conversely, a concealed weapon carried without malice is the best available form of protection for self, dwelling, family. I despise the news slant these days that routinely demonizes the civilly-owned (and operated) firearm. Trouble is, there is no way to count how many lives a gun shown at the right time has saved. But it's easy to tabulate gun-caused deaths and injuries. It puts me in mind of Sam Clemens' pithy observation about lies, damned lies and statistics.

ceterum censeo:  calling a semiauto weapon of any sort an "assault weapon" insults all true assault weapons and the soldiers who carry them. Assault weapons, by definition, have a select-fire provision, a switch from full to semi-auto firing mode. In my opinion this illustrates the modern media's pejorative slant in the First World.

It depends on what you've trained to use. I'm pretty weak sauce with a pump gun, but above average with the good old Government Model .45. It is my "go-to" when things go FUCK YOU in the night ...

i beg to differ, ma'am. in my gifted hands the M4 clone that i own could and would dispatch multiple home invaders. I use NATO hard ball rounds as ammunition - the round breaks up inside the body and bounces around. neat.

Why- ammo?
I would say size and length, caliber, use....I would call it a machine pistol, or sub-machinegun, depending on the model and especially if it is the real kind with selective firing capacity.

Hmm. OK. I'm not sure that I buy in to this. I would have to think on it. I've used some small semi auto rifles but never a full auto. I always thought of the term assault weapon as a rifle/long barrel made for rapid fire.

I like my 380 because of the size but with hindsight I would have found a 9..cheaper ammo

Why- ammo?

Some universally-recognized rifles use traditional pistol ammo ... the .357 magnum lever-action carbines jump to my mind.

But a(n) H&K MP5(k) ... it 's sort of neither. I could be quite wrong here.
