Well now brownies and nissene are essentially the same thing -- household guardians who make sure you are taking care of your property and help you get things right.  There is some idea that your nisse is the spirit of the first person to own the land you are farming, which makes me wonder if my nisse is native, or the first white person?

Well they sure got the idea fast when we told them they had to live on their reservations and weren't allowed in Seattle at all.

I kind of like the idea of a personal household spirit whose interests should be considered, but that is probably just the voice of my peasant forbears talking.
