someone told Mrs. Neely to thank Darrell for his service and she took it from there.
Now, you got my attention. My name is on the bank account for our local nonprofit Veterans's group. Two issues always comes up. The first one is credibility. So many people want to support our Veterans. However there are many military imposters. In the USA we have
Stolen Valor Act of 2013-- making it a crime for a person to fraudulently claim having received a valor award specified in the Act, with the intention of obtaining money, property, or other tangible benefit by convincing another that he or she received the award. “Our men and women of the armed forces and their families deserve the utmost respect and praise, and criminals who disguise themselves as illegitimate veterans demean our true American heroes,†(Rick Saccone).
My second issue is people who confuse Memorial Day with Veterans Day in the USA. Often times I have to explain why our group is not laying a wreath for a living Veteran on Memorial Day. A true conversation from Memorial Day.
Niece –Why aren’t you laying a wreath for my uncle?
Me-Oh, he died in a war?
Niece—no, he lives around the corner but he is a Veteran.
Me-Thank him for his Service...
To our Veterans in EllGab-
-Thank you for your Service.
