According to DC public records, it was very recent in fact he just had his first court appearance and entered a not guilty plea yesterday

^^^^^^ right there Miller you abdicated your responsibility to your sister and to humanity as a whole and lost your right to browbeat others for not doing what you yourself did not have the courage of your convictions to do. You could have simply walked into a school counselor and never went back and it would have been dealt with and kept her safe. It explains a lot about your current existence and behavior.

Shelters don't take pets.  I took physical abuse from one person until I could get out, but it took seasons because I would not separate from my pets.  Another time prior, I did separate from a pet for two weeks in a shelter before re-establishing after abuse.  Every time I think of how I abandoned the little helpless pet, and how lucky I was that she was not hurt or lost and was still available for pick-up, I can hardly think about it because it rips me up.

So sorry to hear this Sofia. You make a good point. I hope things are ok now.

I dropped a msg to Katie last night, she says she is ok. Obviously that is a sliding scale but I will keep in touch with her. In my conversations with her I always gave her the in to talk to me about anything she needed to. I think she was never in a position to be able to. After seeing my sister in the hospital with a partially missing ear and a very bad compound fracture of the leg (15 years on she is still having surgery to fix it) after being thrown down a flight of stairs by her partner I do understand the plight of those who are in abusive relationships and sometimes softly softly is the only way to deal with it, and wait for the opportunity to catch them in the act. There is a multitude of right things to do and wrong things to do in these situations and every situation is unique.

I'm so sorry for your sister. Did they arrest the bastard?

Hope Katie is and will be okay. 4 kids with him? Yikes.
