Often times these quiet men like the film, The Quiet Man (1952). I also have a quiet Alpha male in my life. Easy going men unless there is real trouble...then watch out.

he tried to tell everyone the rehab dr said light beer was ok...no alcohol. Rehab is supposed to be 30 days...he was there like 2 weeks. I think he signed out AMA.

I think Katie is not a US citizen, so this probably may have also compounded the issue of her leaving. We really don’t know all the details, but it appears to have come to a head over the past few days and the best case scenario is that her and the kids are safely away from the abuse.

I think it was wonderful for you to reach out to Katie. I did not even think about her citizenship.  Not being a citizen may have stopped her from contacting the police. I hope Katie has a good support person here in the States.
So, you had first hand experience with your sister being abused.  Like @Bobs Your Uncle noted --We are a small community and just a few pages there are 3 examples of domestic abuse
