Here's my unsolicited comments:
I don't mind opposing opinions and think they are a positive contribution when in a discussion. At Bellgab, it wasn't offering an opposing position, it was a smackdown. The sole purpose seemed to be just that. No discussion or dialogue. Just ream the poster for the sake of reaming and move on to the next victim. If that is funny to you then maybe Ellgab isn't for you.
Please fact check me as some of this is just my opinion. With regards to Bellgab and what happened. Why did MV switch to a donation model? Why do you think he didn't go back to Adsense when the forums ignited after Art's death? The Bellgab domain was banned by Google. Probably for all of the previous and current postings and debauchery and "free speech" that was going on. To add insult to injury, the donations were not enough to cover expenses. In other words, it was costing MV real money every month. How frustrating would that be?
Like some of you have stated, this is Bart's playground and his rules. He has to do what he feels is best for the interests of Ellgab. So far I like this better. Some people may prefer the old Bellgab and that's fine. This isn't Bellgab.
I admit, Ellgab "isn't for me"
but I still have one or two good old bellgab friends here, and it makes me smile when I see they posted, and also, there are the Fine People of the Falkie thread, who much like this thread, with the missing HeatherWade, manage to keep his thread alive, with or without him.
