Longingness, do NOT listen to the Bart & Co. You will become a grass widow if you follow their advice.

Dear Longingness or whatever the hell your name is,
He at least spoke to you, so he still has some interest. You need more information. Is the girl he walked home a floozy? Are you? Could you become one? A woman walks a fine line between being a cold fish and giving away the milk.

Become more interesting if you think he is tiring of you. You’d better snag a man because you don’t want to end up in the all girls dormitory at the Atlas Underwear Company.

Only so many times a young lad can give away his milk money and get no milk.

From the Library of Congress, 1919.

                                         What Will Mrs. Thompson Say?

Yes, troops, how can Longingness regain the friendship?  Mrs. Thompson describes some things she should, (and shouldn't) do.  And has the boy tired of her?  If so, how long should Longingness wait around before she writes him off?

It sounds like he was sending you a signal that he is not romantically interested in you. If you want to continue being friends with him then fine but you must understand it will probably not be anything more. I’d give it another six months. Less if he gets a steady girlfriend.

And wash your face more often to get rid of the blackheads.

What a classic example of Mrs. Thompson going against the grain when it comes to handing out advice.  She would have Longingforapantiedrop give the boy the old cold shoulder routine.  Hang out with other boys to generate some jealousy?  Yes, you read it for yourself.  She seemed to think that the boy had indeed tired of L. and some of you did allude to that, so good going.  Also, juan advised the girl to become more interesting, so there was a point.  (Interest through jealousy.)  We should probably think a little bit more outside of the box when it comes to what Mrs. Thompson will be saying.  Although how much more outside the box can you get than to suggest pantie dropping and skirt to crotch contact?  Great suggestions, by the way, but I'm afraid just a little too much present day type of advice, though surely that sort of stuff was going on back in 1919.  After all, they be havin' babies ever since.
