I'm tired of waiting for Friday to get here, so let's make it Double Points Thursday.

I wonder if Mrs. Thompson might suggest that she be more direct while still being polite. She should tell her gossipy neighbors that she doesn't like to gossip, but is happy to have them come around and visit if the conversation could avoid the gosspiy content. That way she could set a boundary but still be welcoming and polite. Sometimes being a good neighbor means talking with people in a friendly way even if you don't have a lot in common.

She might also make some small effort to visit them on occasion and go with some ideas about what she can talk about with them so as to engage them in non-gossipy converstations.
"The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it." -- Chinese proverb

1. As Barney Fife used to say, "Nip! Nip! Nip it in the bud!"
2. Speak up and tell the gossiper that the things being said are none of your business.
3. If you refuse to listen to gossip, the gossipers will stop coming by to stir the pot.

Are you a Jelly Bean man? I am asking for Mrs. Thompson.

Nope.  I'm a monitor.

Would you like to answer these questions about engagements and weddings?  This is Double Points Friday, so you can pick up 2 points for every correct answer.  (One answer for each question, please.)  Except for the methods of wedding introduction examples.  If you are willing to tackle them and get any of them right, you will earn 10 points for each proper introduction.  To help you out a little, how do you verbally introduce a man and a woman, boys to each other, or girls, women and men.  Mrs. Thompson will also be answering a question that wasn't asked.  Who is always presented to each other?  A younger woman to an older one, or an older woman to a younger one?  Five points if you get that one right.  Don't forget the women's coats question.  We might as well make that one worth 5 points also.  Have fun.

Hall or lizard?
@TigerLily Rikki is "Monitor 49". He is able to cross a time barrier. A monitor is born onto this planet, one per year. Everything a monitor views and experiences is transmitted to a higher source, namely highly evolved planets and, or spiritual realms.  During @anniem 's times of insomnia, she is allow to visit Mrs. T.’s office for a nap on the sofa.
During my time of sadness, I have a key to Mrs.T’s office so I can hide away from the world. “Our” Rikki is a good guy.

Since you are my adviser, I need your assistance. Could you please break down the number of questions for this Double Points Friday quiz. My coffee is not helping my brain today.

This is all very interesting. I knew Rikki was one in a million. Just didn't know how close I was to the truth. And this all very triggering. I just finished re-visiting the Lovecraft Cthulhu series

I'm happy to know "Your" Rikki is Monitor 49 and not Monitor Lizard

Here, dear @FISH

1. Is it good taste to wear an engagement ring throughout an engagement which must be two or two and one-half years in length?
2. If not, how long may it be worn?
3. Who goes first, a man or a woman, down an aisle?
4. Will you explain the correct method of introduction, giving examples.
5. Will women's coats be full this winter?

This seems like a complicated one. Or I need more coffee. Or both. Here goes:

Yes, dearie. Wearing your engagement ring the entire time of the engagement, no matter how long, is fine

The groom goes down the aisle before the bride. Or was she referring to wedding party and guests? Then the woman is escorted by an usher and the man follows

I don't know where I picked up this trivia but iirc, a man is introduced to a woman; younger people are introduced to elders; with a couple the man is introduced first then the woman ( Mr. and Mrs. or Mr. and Miss). The same pattern is followed for kiddies

On the coats? 50/50 chance. I'm feeling contrary today so No. They will not be full

Dear Readie,
1-2. Wear the engagement ring for the duration.
3. If a wedding, the groom goes first. If another situation, the man goes first unless there is some kind of attendant such as an usher, maitre d’,, waiter, then the woman follows the attendant and the man follows.
4. A woman is presented to a man, a younger person to an older person. Mr. Bell, may I introduce the legacy squatter.
5. Yes.
Merry Christmas
