I've played one hand of blackjack in my life. A few months back, a friend and I went to Harrah's in Atlantic City, and for signing up for a rewards card, I got a voucher good for one $10 bet at a table game. At the BJ table, my friend was all excited when I was dealt a 20, but when the dealer showed an ace as her up card, I knew I was doomed. She flipped over a 4 in the hole, and then dealt herself a 6 for a 21 and a defeat for me.
That being said, I've been interested in blackjack for years. I've read a lot of books on the subject and spent plenty of time practicing basic strategy, but I never took the plunge and actually played the game.
