Playing Blackjack using your BRAIN
« on: April 16, 2019, 06:18:56 AM »
Anybody play Blackjack (occasionally) and making $ ?
I am NOT one who is into gambling, however, on the few times I have been vacationing at a historic resort in my state that does have a casino and family has decided to “try their luck” at the SLOTS (or rather enjoy the lights and noise...but LOST $) I decided to try my “luck” at blackjack (AFTER research indicated that game had the LOWEST STATISTICAL ADVANTAGE for the casino) and did manage to come away a winner
I did spend a week memorizing strategy and practicing my counting (and luckily I was able to do that without removing my shoes)
LOL
My WIN offset my Mother’s LOSS at least (so we both had fun and came out even)

I've played one hand of blackjack in my life.  A few months back, a friend and I went to Harrah's in Atlantic City, and for signing up for a rewards card, I got a voucher good for one $10 bet at a table game.  At the BJ table, my friend was all excited when I was dealt a 20, but when the dealer showed an ace as her up card, I knew I was doomed.  She flipped over a 4 in the hole, and then dealt herself a 6 for a 21 and a defeat for me.

That being said, I've been interested in blackjack for years.  I've read a lot of books on the subject and spent plenty of time practicing basic strategy, but I never took the plunge and actually played the game.

I made my freshman beer money by being the “house” for Solitaire addicts. Blackjack is fascinating, but I’ve never made money.
Merry Christmas

I am planning on visiting the “Resort Casino” (aren’t they ALL “Resort Casinos”...LOL) this weekend for a four night stay and hope to try my “LUCK” at Blackjack and Mini Baccarat
I am going with a classmate from school that enjoys Vegas, having lived there for years for work !
She has told me I understand Blackjack pretty good for not being an AP and she assures me she will help me and hopefully have a wonderful time and make some money

I hope she is correct !

I was the ONLY ONE that ate Pizza BUT DID NOT DRINK BEER...

(maybe an UNFAIR advantage, but NOBODY ever complained...
as there was MORE BEER for them !)
