Bastards in Galveston have had the beaches closed for about a month. I heard they are going to open them up on Monday but only 6-9am and 6-9pm to discourage people from the mainland who normally drive down for the day.

And Galveston will want taxpayers to make up the loss in tourist revenue while doing everything they can to diminish tourist revenue. Galveston Island is a small portion of Galveston County.  But if I lived on the island I would probably try and do the same thing. The beaches on Bolivar and Surfside which are off the tips of the island on the mainland have remained open. You need to take a ferry ride from Galveston to Bolivar but there is a bridge to Surfside.

I've read some academic pieces where some doctors are advocating placing patients on their stomachs and giving them oxygen over ventilators. I'm sure there's a little more to it than that, but yeah the tide seems to be turning a bit on ventilators. Younger patients have a little better rate on them, but pretty much it looks like 65 plus going on a ventilator with covid isn't going to come off alive.
