I'm not sure how to analyze this Connie Willis encounter over the holidays.  It leaves me baffled.

First we are not having Norry, check, good point.

Second, we are having Connie Willie, check, bad point.  Get ready for the giggles.

Just another opportunity to show what a good little company girl she is for Ms. Julie and she’s ready to roll in as sNoory’s replacement. Won’t that be swell.  Better keep looking around your back, Jorch, or you may find all those 5 year contracts won’t mean much.

Who made Ian apologize?

It's been years now (like 10-15), but back when Ian was a regular on weekends, he had one of the Snorge's regulars on - I want to say it was Joshua Pee Warren - and they'd agreed beforehand the guest wasn't going to discuss certain topics because Ian thought it would be depressing for some listeners and he didn't want that.

The guest comes on, and right away brings up the subjects he'd agreed not to bring up, they started arguing about it, and Ian dropped the guest and did something else.

Next week Ian is on both Sat and Sun.  He apologizes profusely Saturday night for arguing with the guest and dropping him from the show.  Then on the Sunday night show he does it again. 


Personally, prior to that weekend I always liked Ian and didn't mind his quirks.  I thought they were a bit of ego and a bit of schtick.  His smugness.  Always having to be right.  Always getting the last word.  Never laughing at anyone else's jokes.  His own terrible jokes.  If a caller disagreed, asked a question he didn't like, thought of something about that show's topic that Ian hadn't thought of, etc, he'd argue a bit, drop the call, and tell us in a sad voice all he wanted was a conversation.  And so on.  Until that weekend, that stuff was minor and only showed up in light touches.

It seemed to me after the apology weekend it was much more prominent, and Ian was a full time jerk.   And was like that until I stopped listening to him entirely a year or two later.

It seemed a stark contrast in the way he conducted his shows, and it changed that weekend of groveling.  At least to me.

How can that make sense?  Because in 2021 he said the same thing per Talkers website a long new renewal.  Maybe he's still announcing that one?

It seems like George has a five year contract that is extended each year, so he always has 5 years remaining on his deal.  That way he can't leave them for greener pastures.  As though anyone else would hire him.

For years Noory was giving that CD away free as a prize after the initial attempt to sell them failed.  They must have produced way too many of them back in 2014 and probably use them as coasters in the studio now!

He used several of the CD tracks on last night's show including his own sickening rendition of O Come All Ye Faithful and Christian Wilde's O Holy Night was played at the end of the show.  Noory also mentioned Lionel Fanthorpe's will be played over the weekend with Connie Willis...
