Did you have it put in or did she come that way?

We had it put in 8 years ago.

That happened with a former coworker’s wife who had a naval piercing.
Merry Christmas

I wish there was a place I could look things up on the internet.

What is a foxtail @anniem?

Foxtail is a grass/weed with sharp hard sticker points.  Each segment has a seed and gets itself dispersed dropping on the ground or traveling on animals that brush up against it.  The points bore into the ground, but can also get into the skin under the fur.

My elementary school had a bunch of that growing all over. It was next to a creek.

Anyway, there was a dare going around to put one pointing in on your tongue and then say "caterpillar, caterpillar, caterpillar" before the thing would lodge in your throat.

Kids are dumb. lol

All weeds in California that are thorny or have stickers were brought by the Spanish when they first came here to set up their ranches.  They came in the bales of hay brought on ships for livestock they were transporting.

In the 300+ years since, these invasive weeds have crowded out native grass and other small plants statewide.  It's fairly rare for me to find native grasses in meadows and grassland areas when I'm out hiking or mountain biking.

Boodie (our dog) had an odd, hard thingy on her upper shoulder/neck. We thought it was a dead tick, got it off and it wasn't a tick. Ended up with a tiny wound, the hard thing had been dried oozing ick. It seemed to scab over and we thought it would heal, but it didn't. It would ooze and become another hard thingy. We shaved it a little, clean it up and it kept not healing. So off to the Vet.
The doctor thought it might be a foxtail.  She was going to put a little lidocaine in there, see if there was a foxtail, flush it out etc. They got Boodie up on the table, the doctor pressed on the area and out popped her microchip! She had somehow reacted to it and it got infected. So she'll get antibiotics for two weeks, but should be just fine.

Here she is contemplating microchips.

@anniem Very. Nice picture  :)  Glad she's ok.  How much does Boodie weigh?  Wait! Don't answer; we should have a Guess Boodie's Weight contest!

26-28 LBs Or maybe 20-23 LBs.  Could possibly be 18-20 LBs.  Final answers!

That was what the vet said, but it was 8 years ago. So I'm not sure.
