I hadn't intended it to be taken that way, but interestingly enough it could go either way.
An atheist would say that life is simply a statistical anomaly in the natural evolution of the universe, as governed by physical laws, and that it can only survive within that very special environment that gave rise to it in the first place. It's powerless to do anything other than disturb that environment, temporarily, enough to reduce but not eliminate itself. Life is pretty much irrelevant in the scheme of things, which goes against all of the teachings of the Abrahamic religions.
A believer would say that the scarcity of life is what makes it special, or that because it is special, it is scarce. Either way, that's consistent with what the bible teaches us about god creating life and man and then getting in their shit all of the time, because he wasn't distracted by other worlds.
