I always liked Major De - Coverley, whose only duties were pitching horseshoes, kidnapping Italian labourers and renting apartments for the soldiers on leave.

I always think that book has one of the best endings ever. Bringing back a character you'd kind of forgotten about just to end it with a bang. 'Jump!'.

Didn't Big Love bring somebody back to finish it all?
Eh, nevermind...

Are we talking about the same book?

Anyone got Apple TV? I've just got a three months free subscription but I can't think of anything to watch. I've seen Slow Horses and Severance but is there anything else worth looking at? There's something called 'Masters of Air' but I don't know anything about it.

IF you are into Classic Coast you might be interested in something called "Calls" I watched/listened to the first two episodes it seems like it's a portrayal of phone calls between people during a supernatural event. It's only voice of "private conversations" with sound wave graphics on screen, the episodes are about 15 minutes long.

he first episode was some sort of mix of the rapture event and shapeshifters, the second episode is about a guy having missing time as he's going for a drive and he thinks it's the same day but when calling his family/friends they think he abandoned them for years. It can be cheesy at times but being such short episodes that it's not much of an investment to test out if it grabs  your interest

Hey!  The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes [1984-85] is available on the Roku Channel. Jeremy Brett and David Burke are the best Holmes/Watson duo I think. The episodes follow the stories closely and my gosh the details that went into this production.  Look at the intro - even gobs of horse scat in the streets.
