Apropos of nothing, since this is the open lines thread, I thought I'd share something fun with you.

At times I really miss my NYC a lot, and some of the regular events I used to attend there. Unfortunately, the NYC I knew and loved for so many years disappeared about 10 years ago, never to be seen or experienced again after so many (not great) changes.

This was one of the events I used to go to every year, about a 15-minute walk from where I lived, over to the East Village, and it was always fun.

I can say the same for the San Francisco Bay Area.  Given who's been in charge of all our big cities for the past 50 years, I'd guess most city residents across the country can say much the same.  Venezuela, here we come.

So how about a little bit of philosophical wool gathering?  Recently tripped across three different discussions on AI. I think it's an interesting topic and will change humanity forever

How will it happen? When? Will it happen at all? Will it be like The Matrix, Terminator or I, Robot?  Did you ever see Her where the AI soon outgrows humanity and leave us behind without a backward look?
How about the possibilities of Transhumanism which is supposedly within our lifetime?

As for NYC...  What?  Did it turn back into a shithole 10 years ago???  I thought Rudy cleaned the place up (at least the tourist centers).
