That's part of it.  Better know what you are getting into and know what you are doing with a Husky.  Plus circumstances can change - if you got laid off or had your hours cut it might be rough keeping a Great Dane fed.  However, the answer is not driving out inna woods and just leaving the animal.  That is inexcusable and despicable.

I've heard it said that in most cases within the same situation a horse stands a better chance of survival, but I really don't see how that could be when you consider all the variants involved and that alone would be its own discussion. I would say that almost always both animals are eventually, sooner than later, sharing the same fate.
