Glen Williams, owner of the Williams Fruit Company, didn't grow apples himself, but he built some big warehouses to store the fruit from other growers. He would then make agreements to sell the apples under the Williams name.

This crate label was printed in the late 1940s. The Independent Warehouse Company is alive and well, and is still situated in the town of Dryden, Washington.

This is a rather early day pear crate label and it goes back to around 1910. According to my friend, thelabelman.com, who I purchase labels from every so often, this is an area called Ophir and it no longer has a pear orchard. It is pasture land, now.

Poor Joe got sued over some shenanigan's during the carrot crop of 1957-58. He lost the case and tried to get a new trial but the court turned him down.

Some fun legal speak in the article. Like this...

Quote
None of the decided cases hold that after a judgment has been entered without any evidence having been introduced establishing illegality, the court must grant a motion for a new trial on the ground of newly discovered evidence of illegality even though the moving party has failed to show the exercise of the diligence required by section 657, subdivision 4, of the Code of Civil Procedure.

All I know about this label is that it was in use sometime during the 1940s. There is no information on the Cinelli shippers of Yakima, Wa.
Even if there is, it's buried under a ton of Cinelli Bicycle websites.
