They say - "sweat it out". Bundle up in bed and go to sleep only to wake up hours later in what feels like a bed that has just been run through a car wash. You've sweat pounds of water and now you're up laying towels and what not over top the soaked mess of a bed.

TRUTH IS that sweating does absolutely nothing to hasten, let alone eliminate your cold. All it does is wake you up in untold discomfort and possible dehydration which is quite bad at this point.
Drinking "plenty of fluids" does nothing or very little. That said, a consistent flow of WATER is indeed beneficial when it comes to drastically reducing the symptoms by flushing the system throughout the day, but not at all does it hasten recovery.
