OK  Mr. ASKypants!! I did not have a favorite player while growing up. I had a favorite guitar and a favorite guitar player, not to mention a favorite singer in a favorite band ETC etc..  Anyways back to the meat of your query, I did seem to be happier when the Nucks won a game but that is not to say that I made any effort whatsoever to watch a game. I had karate class, band practice, wrestling, beat off to Kim Shuman and her beef curtains daily, and then making dinner for myself BECAUSE MY FAMILY EXPODED LEAVING THE CHILDREN TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES IN ALMOST EVERY WAY!
