Exactly. We had one pre-deployment "ritual" that I loved called "Battle Sight Zero" (BZO). This was done on a minimal scale compared to rifle qualification - it was intended to be a more precise setting of individual rifle sights prior to combat. The targets were at 50 feet or so, and reminded me of shooting a .22 in ROTC.
3 rounds and minor adjustments after. First with iron sights, then with the ACOG. (This was in 1990) right before I got out.
