I remember him saying he bought some watermelon flavor beer once that was marked down for clearance at the corner store.

So what was the first alcoholic beverage you ever had Pelayo?

Wow, it was either a little wine or a shot of whiskey. I sneaked it out of my dad's liquor cabinet. I was probably about 8 years old.

I don't believe Brandon Young is being truthful - about anything.

Yeah, mine was Blackberry Brandy (just a swig from a pint my Dad hid on the top of the China cabinet - my parents said it for my father's breathing condition or some shit in the 70s).

That would explain him not taking any pictures at all of his trip, much less any game they brought down.

My first real taste of beer was in 1983 when I was banging a woman I worked with at the Nazarene Publishing House Bookstore in Kansas City.  Coors.
(She was Methodist!)

Then when I was about 13 the neighbor kids would visit their mom who worked in a liquor store, and while there they stuffed pints in their pockets and we would drink them during sleepovers watching the Creepy Creature Feature on TV. hahahaha. Sloe gin and everclear.

Holy shit!  After the Coors thing with the Methodist chick, I joined the "SUCK" - But I actually had a beer with one of my Drill Instructors at MCRD San Diego - unfortunately, it was a Heineken and I hated it - but drank it anyway.

That same Drill instructor (Sgt. Starling) - (a big, menacing black guy) turned up in an E-Club a year or so later aboard USNS Subic Bay, RP.  I was TAD at the rifle range and went in for lunch one day to find him sitting with two other Marines at a table.  We were all in uniform and I noticed he was a Lcpl, like me.

I asked him what happened and he said some shit happened in Okinawa.  I thanked him for helping me through boot camp.  It was surreal.

He must have been reassigned to the FMF and Okinawa and got into trouble somehow.

When my older brother joined the Navy (1979) booze and cigarettes were cheap as hell. Thanks Clintons for fucking that up. I remember my brother going to the commissary at JBLM in the 90's and picking me up cartons of Marlboros for $6 .
