Probably the saddest thing in your post. The A1 Skyraider, even though dated at the time, was arguably one of the best attack aircraft ever produced for the US arsenal. I agree Pelayo.  Yes, That history is documented truth.  As for Charles James Hall?  Not so much.  Very squirrely aging dude.  Hall has gone so far (with the assistance of his own wife no doubt) to have presented false information intended to thwart the effort of anyone attempting to use the FOIA to obtain releasable details of his service record.  Specifically his awards and duty assignments.

When confronted with the issue, Hall has been quoted to have said: "You have no need to know".

The interesting facts also include the presence of AC-47 "Spooky" aircraft being used to defend the base from various attacks.

Yes. After communicating with Steven and listening to his description of Halls' response, I am convinced that Charles Hall was not surprised or concerned that both Hilton and Cambian received no record responses from NPRC.  Because Hall had intentionally provided false dates etc intending to prevent researchers from being able to obtain releasable details of his service record.

If you combine the details of the history with the images Hall provides in the documentary, it is obvious that the base hosted ground attack squadrons of various aircraft and was able to use those aircraft very successfully in its own defense.

My observation is that the images Hall provided show him as USAF Security armed with a CAR-15.
