In his first book, Charles Hall claims he reported to Bihn Thuy as "Airman Second Class "Charles Baker"

This was after he claims an Admin NCO at a Headquarters near Saigon ripped up his orders to Cameron Bay and then typed new orders for him to report to Bihn Thuy.  The nature of this suggests that his previous orders as a "Weather Observer" were replaced on the spot making him Air Force Security.

Yeah, that sounded fishy to me. I wouldn´t think an NCO had the authority to tear up orders and issue new orders unless there was a serious disruption in the chain of command. I am definitely no expert in the matter, so it could have happened.
