Yes. ( recognize the helmet and chin-straps)  We had old Vietnam-issue stuff in the Philippines.  M16A1's, flak vests etc.

What size did you wear? You see, I ordered a couple PASGT IIIA ballistic helmets and they are arriving tomorrow. I ordered medium size. I hope they aren't too small.

But the image is just gay...long hair, glasses, makeup and shit.  How Dietrich can claim it to be his father (George) is just insane...

I needed a small, but those were hard to get.  I got what I was issued and modified it.  That was when the helmet liner was still used.  I was first issued a Kevlar helmet in the FMF in 1986 and it was still a problem.

I'm pretty sure medium is the right size for me, but I think my brother's head is a little bigger. I also bought a couple reasonably priced gas masks as well. There is a lot of chatter about something like what happened in Israeli is going to happen here soon.

I would periodically go to town in Jacksonville, NC to Army/Navy stores looking for smaller helmets etc. and other gear.

Yeah, when I was a kid my dad would always take us to the A/N surplus stores. They used to be great. You could buy stuff really cheap. Now those surplus stores charge top dollar for their stuff.

It was a great thing for a while.  We would get issued worn-out crap (poncho liners, all sorts of stuff) and we found newer gear but we had to save the receipts for it etc.  Even Canteen and ammo pouches.  So we could wear the older crap in the field but still put the better stuff out for inspections.

Yeah, before I ordered the helmets online my brother and I checked out a few A/N surplus stores here in town and we didn't find any bargains. I've been looking for two or three years for something not too expensive but the way the world is now, it seemed like buying them now was warranted. Who knows? In a few months you might not be able to buy them anymore.

I'm not sure I am going to fork out for a vest. Maybe if I somehow fall into some unexpected money.

When I was a kid I would save my money and seek out antique shops for WW2/Vietnam stuff.  I bought a couple of nice helmets for about 20.00 each (1970s).  Those days are long gone.
