This version by the band "Love" has different lyrics.  Reportedly it was this version that inspired Jimi Hendrix to record the song.  A guitarist from Love claims that these were the authentic lyrics.  When the Leaves heard Love play the song, they asked for the lyrics.  The said guitarist claims that he wrote down a different set of lyrics to play a dirty trick on the Leaves, but it ended up being the version that became most famous.

I was unaware that he covered that. You know that's a Judas Priest song? @TigerLily

When I was in my 20s living in Victoria (birth town) he showed up one night to this live music venue called The Forge, I was the only person there who knew who he was. He got up with the band and sang a few and left like some kind of vocal superhero. He was there. Then he wasn't there. He go'ed away into the niiiigh..

Found out later that his dad owns property in the Victoria area and he was in town visiting pops.

EDUCATION TIME @TigerLily Hendrix was great in his way in that he was a maverick of sorts but he was far from the so-called greatest. Not by a long shot.

Anyways.  We were speaking of Tony TNT earlier. Not on the phone though, in here because we don't know each other and we are not phone buddies. Like, gross.  ;D

Anyways honeybuns..

EDIT: I once sang this for my mom on mothers day with different lyrics of course. 10,000 Mothers in one. She smiled and it was a nice day. I got hammered and fucked my hot neighbor later on.

Jimi was tearing it up at the Monterey Pop 20 years before TNT made their little opus. Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Mike Bloomfield were all going to see Jimi play when he was in London. His early death helped make him a legend but I say he could make most people's Top Ten. And he only lived to be 27

Tony has an amazing voice. Do you think the rest of the band is equal? I mean, the lead guitar. Is he as good as say Eddie Van Halen or... Jimi Hendrix?

Who do you think enjoyed herself more? Your mom or the neighbor?
And btw   you are so weird

To me, the ''best'' guitarists are the ones I enjoy listening to the most.  Who cares about technical skill, versatility, or whatever the preferred measurement is - those that produce the music that makes a person feel a certain way, changes their mood for the better, or whatever are ''the best''.  All very subjective, but don't entertainment and enjoyment transcend everything else?

PS, same for actors, singers... most entertainment industry roles.

Agreed for the most part. When it comes to guitar it is not how many notes one can play within a given measure but rather the notes they play to help put the song over the top. That said, certain types of music are more suitable to a shredding guitar player. I've heard blues guys who can bust into lightning fast notes and scales in the middle of an otherwise slow and melodic piece but they do it like an erupting volcano and then finish the solo by bringing it back down. Knowing when to apply what based on how the player is feeling the song. He's at one with the music,  man.

In English we refer to those as our favorites.

Ace Frehley is my favorite guitarist.
Ace Frehley is not the best guitarist.

Santana, Unwashed Hippyboy and BB are not the best guitarists.
They are guitarists with limited abilities that are your favorites.

In the spirit of favorite vs best, let us enjoy Gary Moore taking BB King to school.

Love Ace. First earliest influence even before I had a guitar. Funny how that can happen, like it becomes installed in you and waits for your parents to buy you a Les Paul.  :)

That was sweet!

Also, I could listen to BB sing all day.

Happy Sunday. What a great clip. The King has crowned his successor. Gary Moore is so good! I've heard him alot but not this particular cut

@PB is one of those guys who thinks if he likes/believes something that it is imperative everyone else does too

Thank you @Bart Ell

I saw a Steve Miller show in SF where in song after song he'd bring out various musicians one at a time he knew who lived locally.  Several rockers, a gospel singer from Oakland, R&B, etc.  One was a jazz guitarist, and his guitar work was sweet, playing it like I'd never seen it played.  It made me think maybe the best guitar players may not even be in rock.
