🎶What goes up must come down🎶

So @KSM...

Back in the '80s, I was getting frustrated with all the neon lights buzzing up all of my cheap 1970s bass guitars...

I dug into some research about communications signal shielding. I devised a very simple way to solve the problem. I would use four conductor Belden microphone cable for my guitar cords I would join the white and green leads at each end for the positive and, on the amplifier end I would join the brown and the shield for the negative. On the guitar side, I would not connect the braided shield. The idea being a mini Faraday cage for my guitar signal. I made this particular cable for dozens of musicians and I believe that my cables were used by bands like the Paladins, I'm pretty sure the Beat Farmers and a few others who know me too well so I'm not mentioning them for privacy purposes... I also made recording cables, which I hated because of the popularity of RCA and XLRs were a bit more work as well.

Today, I wanted to repair my personal cable that I'm pretty sure was a 1988 build. The instrument end was a bit staticky. So I cut off the end and cleaned up the original Switchcraft right angle plug, I decided to drill a hole in the negative prong just so that I didn't have to use so much solder and heat to get a good anchor. What do I do? I float the fucking negative line and connect the fucking shield! It's not fucking opposite day and I'm really pissed that I was thinking I was done.

I went as far as to go into my house, plug it in and hammer the stupid cable to make sure there was no microphonics with it, etc.

Argh!

Nowadays, it's not as bad. Most signs are LED illuminated, but still...

I am through with my self rant. Go on to your incredible life.

Almost looked like he planned it. Perfectly.

My Les Paul Classic is incredibly resonant, more so than my Epiphone Riviera P93, but I am loving P90s in a mix and in my headphones.

Maybe, just maybe, a shorter string length with the P90s might change that, but... I am looking at Epiphones and other lower-cost wrap around tailpiece P90 equipped guitars...

You like the middle pickup?
Change out the strings for xtra light gauge 8s.

Not a fan of black pickups and gold hardware, especially on that color of guitar.

I have used the middle pickup a lot. I'm really trying to not overplay on things, partially because shit's falling apart and I can't do what I did just a few years ago and I was never much of a player anyway. My friend has been taking my moments of brilliance and using AI to pull them out into their own stems for reuse. I initially wanted to do that because I no longer have the guitar I did most of my solos on and I loved the tone of it, but I could never play it again. In fact, I am having to relearn a lot. Because of that, I'm learning my habits. I love C9! I also have found tendencies to have the song in one key but start with the IV or V. I should watch Rick Beato so that I can figure out the theory behind it.

This guitar has a middle volume that can be blended into the traditional selection of a neck and bridge pickup, it has three volumes and one tone. I have thought that it would be a good idea to have a tone bypass. That's that may just be an exercise in futility.

Honestly, I don't remember what I put on this guitar. Since late last year, I have bought eights and nines. I should probably check, hahaha. Maybe my digital caliper will be accurate enough to tell me at the very least what the bass string is...

As for the cosmetics, yeah, I think cream pickups would have been nice with the goldish tone screws. It would have matched the binding.

I was kidding about the 8s. That's Bart's thing.  Cream p90s, yes.

I'm serious about the lighter gauges now. Maybe I have been watching too much Spectre Sound Studios and all those other guys, but the lighter gauge is something I really need. If it's good enough for Jimmy Page, that's way too good for me, hahaha!

Ultimately, I was very ham-handed with all of my playing and the heavier gauges helped cut down on extraneous buzz and pulling things out of intonation.

I think the last time I saw one of those games was while visiting Mount Rushmore when my grandparents took my sister and I around the US. That plaza at the base where all the tourists gather.

I had to stop working in my garage after I heard a report about Fishhat Frank (Pope Francis)...

This would make a great band name, if it isn't one already...

Mortal Remains

Then, dealing with a bunch of crap that I'm deciding to trash or keep, I thought of another one... Trash Rags. That would be a good name for a womens' band, eh?

PS We worry about you getting locked up for assault, don't go golfing!
