The Merry Christmas Thread

Dinner will be a roasted Beef Tri-Tip with chanterelle mushrooms and Bordelaise sauce (If I can find bone marrow that isn't cost prohibitive! Otherwise, Red Wine glazed).  Served with Gouda mashed potatoes and fresh herbs, roasted yellow or purple cauliflower (if I can still get either), and pan fried green beans with garlic.  I may do charred asparagus instead.  I'm on the fence.

Dessert will be a brûléed vanilla brioche bread pudding.

I stuffed, seasoned, trussed and dry brined an 11LB chicken overnight. First time trying this, testicles crossed. Veggies and all other stuff will be a delicious breeze.

I survived two days of cooking.  Scaled way back from recent years.  Now everyone I know wants me to make them marshmallows.

Nobody was at my place, including me.  We all meet at my mother's huge old house where my niece and her 45 children now live.  Add my mother from the old folks home, two old maid sisters-in-law, my nephew and his wife, and my sister's husband.  Thank goodness all that ruckus is 200-miles away for most of my year.

I felt the same.  Kitschy, like wearing ugly Christmas sweaters, ''ho ho ho, this is the silliness we engage in this time of year''.  Schmaltzy.  Fake Christmas spirit.
