What's a "modeling" mic?
There was a little girl,
            Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
            When she was good,
            She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

I think these "models" use them.

Bart,

Do you know what is going on here? It doesn't appear to be all together wholesome.

Sort of a swiss army mic that is designed to emulate many other mics on a computer DAW/software.

Ever worked with an EV-RE20? Sound like a Dynamic Condenser. Beautiful.

By golly they're worth every penny. And I don't think that they are ugly as some say. In fact I find it to be a killer looking piece.

Old FM disc jockey trick _ mount it at about 45-60 degrees and talk across it rather than into it.  It picks up more bass frequencies and makes your voice sound deeper.

Old FM engineer trick... no disc jockey was smart enough to know why they did it.

In my part of the country, non-union, the disc jockeys ran the boards and had to be licensed First Class engineers.

Right

So Grease knew what he was doing then? He was a Jacksonville guy originally, right?

He came to fame at The Big Ape, WAPE in Jacksonville, but he was not originally from there.  Listening to some of the old air checks, I'm amazed at some of the things he got away with.

The other guy on this track is Hoyle Dempsey who played Greasy's ex-brother-in-law.

Yes. Certain frequencies tend to travel downward while others travel up as far a s I know.

I don't really have a problem getting the lower register across. I'm more concerned about how it looks on my desk.  :D ;D :P  Looks like a robot dick.
