Who's excited about the rebirth of the USFL?

I'd rather see a football league composed of robots.  Batteries set to slowly weaken as the game progresses.  Injuries?  Sure.  The players can even bleed, but with leaking machine oil, not blood.

In the words of George Noory, "Interesting take."   ;) ;D

Who's excited about the rebirth of the USFL? Only 8 teams.  I can't believe Pittsburgh has the Maulers coming back.  Tampa?  If anything the Memphis Showboats should've been brought back.  I can see why Birmingham came back since every team will be playing their games in Alabama during the first season.

Interesting the Panthers are back - with the same ugly ass color combo to boot.

They should have swiped the old Michigan Stags look:

With all the games being played in Alabama the concept seems very strange. This really seems like a made for TV league, if you just like football I guess you might watch but not sure how anyone in the cities listed have any emotional investment to teams though.

I hadn't heard the USFL was coming back, but then I don't follow pro football that much any more. None of these "new" leagues, going back to the WFL of the 1970s, have ever played at a level comparable to the NFL, or even the CFL for that matter. To succeed, a start up league has to find the sweet spot between quality play on the field and manageable finances.  The WFL and USFL went broke trying to compete with the NFL by luring away NFL talen.  Others like the XFL and UFL failed because they played at about a high college mid-major conference level, few were willing to pay pro football ticket prices to see MWC caliber play.

The one start up league that did succeed was the WLAF, later morphing into NFL-Europe.  It lasted around fifteen years, primarily because it was backed financially and staffed (both players and coaches) by the NFL.  It was more less the pro football equivalent of AAA baseball, a feeder league that sent a fair number of players to both the NFL and CFL.

@Walks_At_Night it looks as though both the Lions and the Jaguars are trying to lose that #1 pick.

Yeah - the Packers have given up. Lions have no hope at #1 now.

Bah. It's over. Some one reminded Love that he was a stiff.

Detroit Lion: "Hey Love. You're a stiff. Remember?"
Love: "Oh yeah. That's right. I am a stiff"

Apparently SF has to win or NO has to lose for the 49ers to be in the playoffs

I don't understand why if the Eagles lose, SF loses, and the Saints win they all finish 9-8 and SF is out.

The Eagles beat the Saints and SF beat the Eagles, shouldn't the Saints be out?

It matters not:
