If I'm the 49ers I'd probably prefer to see Mahomes instead of Lamar Jackson.  But no sane person wants the icky Taylor Swift-Kelse thing to continue on our screens.

I keep hearing this is the biggest game in Detroit sports history.

It seems like a case of recency bias. I get that the NFL is the most popular game in town in most places, but that wasn't always the case.  I'm no expert on Detroit sports history, but I remember several NBA championships, a couple times the Tigers won the World Series, and quite a few Stanley Cups.  It's been awhile and I can see how the youngest fans would think that.  If the 9ers weren't in it, I'd be for the Lions too, and would be for them if they somehow win today and move on.

Quite true. Not even the biggest game in Lions history. That would probably have been the 1957 NFL Championship game which they one.

To me this is the biggest game in Detroit pro sports history - Game 7 of the '68 World Series where Mickey Lolich wins his third game of the series and shoves it right up Bob Gibson [coming off the best year a pitcher ever had] and the Cardinals ass.

That's what I was thinking too.  Back in the days when the games were played during the day and there was always one teacher who rolled the TV into his classroom and we could watch - sometimes most of the game, sometimes only during lunch hour.

On my tv, the closed captioning is several seconds ahead of the audio and video.  This is the Swiftly game. How does closed captioning know what is is if before it is said?

... As far as I'm concerned, as soon as the clock shows 0:00, whether it's Sunday or in two weeks, win or lose, the DC should be fired...

Has a defensive coordinator ever been fired in game?

I can't take this guy's defense schemes anymore.

Sorry man.  I really thought Detroit was going to get it done.

Sure had their chances.  If there pattern holds, I'll be in my 90's when they get their shot at the Super Bowl.

Oh, the sportsball game is over?

SF vs KC?

Montana/Smith will be mentioned too much.

I'm sad about the Lions.

Their TV audience was too small and their fan base too cheap poor.

You sure it wasn't more about a sequence of bad luck and bad bounces - not kicking a FG on 4th down then going for it and not picking up the first down, the Aiyuk reception off the defender's facemask, a couple crucial dropped passes - one in the end zone, Purdy's runs for first downs, and the fumble?

Did you think the refs job them?

So now I guess we still have to see Taylor Swift until the seasons end.

Go Chiefs! GO!

I'm sad about the Lions.

Me too. They'll get another shot at getting into in a Super Bowl in 2055 though per historical precedent.  So they have that going for them.
