70s, 80s, 90s music review, that's your 70s review, Kiss?  What were they, the 82nd best band of the decade?

I was a child in the 70s! I now know so much more thanks to Art Bell bumper music.  And I didn't refer to my dissusion as a "review" I should have called it KISS, 80s, 90s..and so-on

I heard that song.  I swear I don't remember it.

That's an interesting comment, and explains some of the things I've heard from others over the years.  Maybe they haven't ever listened to or explored the pop music from earlier than their teens.  From someone who remembers great albums coming out seemingly weekly all thru the 70s - and not just rock - things really tailed off in the 80s, and from the 90s on it's been overwhelmingly dreadful with a few points of light here and there.  There's a reason geezers from that era still sell out venues.  The Jerry Garcia Band is still going strong, with a variety of lead guitarists sitting in.  You should check out more of the 70s.  And 60s, 50s, the big band sounds of the 30s and 40s, some 20s ragtime...

My take on Art Bell's bumpers was that he took snippets in order to set a mood, not try to introduce people to the best music out there.  I wouldn't sit around and listen to the records most of his bumpers came from, but those snippets were right for the show.

Heh heh heh  I am quite familiar with 70s music beyond bumper music. I love the analog sound and production of a lot of the 70s music. BTW the early KISS albums sounded like complete crap. Which version of Paul and The Beatles are we talking about?  8)   As far as 50s an 60s I have about 125 old 45s from a Jukebox that parents used to have in the rec room. Everything from the original Ritchie Valens La Bamba to Elvis Don't Be Cruel and much much more. Soo much more. That case could be worth a lot of money as most of the 45s are original prints. Very interesting smell in that wooden case. Smells like history. I sure hope fuckface sends it out to me along with my remaining Les Paul.

When Kiss appeared on the scene, all the guys in my class - every one - hated them, and our little brothers were completely enthralled.  Enough said.

Ok, one more thing, as far as the makeup and theatrics, Alice Cooper did it first, and better.

Taste is subjective so you and your fellow cross armed Santana loving dweebs were as right as those smart younger boys.

Put down that 1974 issue of Rolling Stone, it has you brainwashed into believing really stupid stuff.

Santana Boy says this was better, @KSM
It looks like any Tuesday night in the Tenderloin circa 1974, not a band.

Is that the worst photo of them you could find?  I didn't say great, just better than what Kiss was doing later.

PS, I've seen both of them once.  Long after their heydays.

It actually was the best I could find.
The hype never matched the reality.
They were a bunch of shoegazing drunks with a singer who had some makeup and a snake.
