I'm not following closely, but it sounds like, based on a comment in that write-up, he's the weekend guy now. They said weekend slot and that tells me that he's not one of a group that it's his position. Am I reading too much into it?

I don't know if I like the pitch of his voice, but we seem to be getting away from men with manly voices in society.  Good diction, his mind seems nimble, so acceptable.  By the end of the show he seemed to realize he needs to cut short the deadwood.
That's really the problem - the callers are mostly losers.
