Skip all the UFO books with repetitive junk, George.  Just focus on the ones that brings something new to the topic.

lol. A little more slurry as the evening goes on. But I think it's more sleepiness than alcohol. He's pretty old

The guy sounds exactly like Peck! Funny how as the evening went along his grammar got a little sloppy. Actually, more than giving him credibility, it makes you wonder how someone with such an impressive vocal instrument could also...um, alter his own voice.

Curious that we're hearing a show from a Gregory-Peck-sounding guy with recordings from...the 1970s? His "Quantum" angle seems like an effort to stay relevant. Still enjoyable to listen to...

Contrast him with the next guy, whose voice and cadence was unlistenable. He must have said "you know" ten times the first minute he was on.

Archaeological Hoaxes/ Lost Treasures

DATE
Sunday - September 23, 2018

HOST
George Knapp

GUESTS
Kenneth Feder,    W.C. Jameson

First Half: Committed to the scientific investigation of human antiquity, Anthropology Professor Kenneth Feder joins George Knapp to look at archaeological hoaxes, myths, and mysteries to show how we can use science to learn things about the past. He'll discuss wildly inaccurate claims within the context of the scientific method, demonstrating where pseudoscience falls short.

Second Half: W.C. Jameson is one of the last true treasure hunters in the world - "a breed of people addicted to danger, adventure, and the quest." He'll discuss his efforts to find the lost treasures of North America and beyond, piecing together centuries-old histories through documents, maps, and stories passed down from one generation to the next, facing life-threatening danger time and again.

This sounds like it has some potential.

It's ironic Knapp is having a show looking at pseudoscience, hoaxers, and ''wildly inaccurate claims'' - he's usually enabling it.

So you think Skinwalker Ranch was a hoax?

Really?

https://www.ranker.com/list/skinwatcher-ranch-conspiracy-stories-theories/juliet-bennett-rylah

The Skinwalker Ranch is a weird place. Located near Ballard, Utah, it's long been the source of tales of monsters, space ships, and other bizarre phenomenon. Native Americans in the area believe the ranch is plagued by evil creatures known as Skinwalkers, while others claim to have seen UFOs, crop circles, and unexplainable lights. A family - alias the Shermans - that lived on the ranch for two years in the '90s reported several strange incidents, including animal mutilation and disappearances and UFO sightings.

Some Skinwalker conspiracies suggest the government made contact with extraterrestrials and is covering everything up. Other theories assert that the ranch is home to a portal similar to the Hellmouth, which allows for interdimensional travel.

I don’t know how I feel about this second guest. Hard to believe Knapp is intervening someone that clealry advocates illegal behavior as far as recovering lost treasure.
Are we having fun yet?

This old timer who treasure hunts is bold. On national radio, 400 or more stations, he defiantly says he pays no tax on the profits from his treasure hunting endeavors and this is after also stating he's gained considerable wealth. I remember years ago one of Howard Stern's gang a fellow DJ named Crazy Cabbie making the same boast on the air, either a listener snitched on him to the IRS or with Stern's large audience an IRS employee heard it. Crazy Cabbie ended up in an orange jumpsuit for a year or so plus fined.

With a day job to go to in the morning, I only made it for the first half hour of the second guest - although I'd have liked to listen to the whole thing.

One thing that cracked me up was the caller for the first guest who told the guest he'd basically invalidated his (the callers) entire life, then went on to describe what a complete kook he (the caller) is.   With Knapp stepping in to tell the caller he's still free (and encouraged) to believe and say whatever he wants... lol.  Probably a lot of Knapp's listeners felt the same as the caller

I just tell myself that interviewing isn't advocating and murmur a heart felt thank you to the handful of talented and insightful members of the fourth estate ;D that still remain. I just finished listening  and had a good time. He is a stellar interviewer.

It was a good interview. I don’t believe the guy but he was a good story teller.

I agree. He was a good story teller. The fun was the plausibility of his story.
