A few years ago, I came dangerously close to plagiarizing a Carole King song. In the lyrics, I literally call her out. Response to the song went over well after a couple of gigs, so I sent her a CD, DVD of a live performance and the lead sheet with lyrics. She returned it to me with a note of approval and a really nice note.
Later, I went back to the well for some charity fundraisers and she was quite supportive.
Sometimes it's nice to go through old boxes and clean shit up.
