@Rikki Gins it is curious why most crate labels are from the West Coast. Today I traveled to a working farm in NJ for some corn and tomatoes.

Wow!  I wish there was a market like that where I live.  Oh oh, I just noticed.  They mostly sell pies there.  Best not mention this to @Bart Ell.  He's already pissed that there isn't any garlic sold there. http://www.springdalefarms.com/bakery/

@Dancing queen.  I once had a job as a kid where I helped move plants around for shipping and they were stored in reused produce crates that had fruit and vegetable labels on them.  The labels had been glued to the crates but through time, the glue had begun to wear off and I noticed that the labels could be gently peeled off without tearing.  I collected a bunch of the labels this way.  I stored them in a box, in an outbuilding and there they remained for many a year.  I recently came across them and they aren't in the best of shape, though some of them are still in relatively good condition.

Vintage fruit and vegetable labels are not hard to find at all.  eBay sells lots of them but be sure to check that they are original crate labels and not ones that have been reproduced.  If you have a large, antique mall in your town then you can probably find a boxful of unused produce labels in paper collectable areas, along with postcards, etc.  I currently don't collect vintage fruit and vegetable labels but I would love to find an original apple crate label from an orchard that my grandfather used to work for in Monroe, Oregon.  So far, I have only found reproduction's of that label.
