@Walks_At_Night & @Uncle Duke

That P-8A Poseidon was making circles overhead yesterday.  I was out taking my walk and was able to get a couple of shots of it.  I notice that the landing gear is down, and the numerous circles that it made leads me to believe that touch and go landings were being made at the local airport.  Though why would an aircraft from a distant base in Washington (Ault Field on Whidbey Island) come all the way to an adjoining state to practice touch and goes?

Guessing that the Naval Aviator at the controls doesn't look like this guy and has to learn - different airfields, locations, more flight hours etc.

Great pictures!!!!!!!

The a/c the mature pilot is standing next to is a former Israeli Kfir, an variant of the French Mirage.  One of the dissimilar air combat contractors flies them, I think out of CA.  So that means the grandfatherly looking gent is a retired military pilot with thousands of hours time in fighters.

Those contractors operate some very cool aircraft.  Back in the late 90s I flew into Partick Henry Airport near Langley AFB, and as I was walking to my rental car I heard the loudest airplane I'd ever heard. Roaring over my head was a Swedish SAAB Draken, a beautiful "double delta" airplane.

War is not fair but sheesh.  P-47's versus Ju-52's trying to land.

@ItsOver  Here is a little payback from the Luftwaffe.

When I was a young teenager, my Dad worked with an engineer who had flown FW-190s for the Luftwaffe.  He didn't like to talk about his WW2 experience, but for some reason he took a liking to me and we had several interesting talks.  Most of his time had been over the Eastern Front, but late in the war he flew air defense over Germany against the US and UK.

When I asked him about the a/c he most feared, without hesitation he said, "The American Thunderbolt." He said it was almost impossible to shoot down, you could put hundreds of rounds into it but it kept flying.  Conversely, he said the liquid cooled engine on the Mustang made them much easier to knock out of the flight. Their biggest concern about the Mustang was there were so many of them.  He also spoke very highly of the Yak-9.

And like every other German, he knew nothing about the concentration camps.

This guys property is being bombed by aerial feces which would suck but it also seems to be a plane spotting paradise which is cool.

Reminds me of the stories about President Truman ordering the waste storage tanks from the Presidential aircraft to be dumped over Ohio due to his hatred of Sen Bob Taft.

Beautiful video of RAF Typhoons flying through the Mach Loop, a low level tactical training area in Wales.
