The name, the appearance, the access to not only a government computer, but an ATC computer... DEI much, FAA?

A Learjet 35A owned by Motley Crue member Vince Neil, veered off course while landing at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona. The Learjet slammed into a Gulfstream 200 business jet that was parked off the runway, killing one person and injuring some others, one of whom is Vince's girlfriend. Vince wasn't on the plane.

Ha, it would seem so, though I've seen some horror story YouTube videos that people film while riding the bus.  Like all the passengers being dropped off in the middle of nowhere, with the promise that another bus would be picking them up, hours later.

Oh, WAN, look what showed up in my adchoice, after I posted the above picture.

It takes me for a pilot.

The San Diego airport could have been moved to the site of Top Gun, Fightertown, USA, but noooooo.

Stupid move by the really stupid city council and all the lobbyists. Leaving the USMC at El Toro would have really upscaled San Diego and made a safe airport too.  Elections matter.

I saw a headline saying that there was a military air crash off the shore of San Diego.

I guess the military band audio from the DC crash indicates someone was ignoring commands. It ain't an accident at that point.

As reported, it happened wile landing. I froze a frame and we can see their landing gear. I wonder what caused it to turn south all of a sudden?

Airplanes do funny things when mass properties (weight, center of gravity, mass moments, etc) change as they do when up to 600 lbs of seats/crew eject. The aircraft's aerodynamics are near instantaneously changed in flight by this as well.

There is a very famous story in the USAF somewhat similar to this.  It's known as the "Cornfield Bomber."

The front landing gear looks fine, but the back ones look like they're still halfway deployed. Maybe it's just what I expect to see and not what is reality with that particular aeronautical device...

What a great story. Thanks Duke, I enjoyed reading it.  "Gary - you'd better get back in it!"  haha  I loved that part.

What a great story.

It sure is.  When I was a wee lad there were F-106's based nearby.  Great looking airplane.  That squadron had Rickenbacker's old Hat-in-the-Ring
logo.
