Well, there's a few million taxpayer dollars being flushed down the toilet. Wonder who the pilot was of the USAF craft... And what were her qualifications...

Looks like the "her" was Mother Nature.

That might be an APU fire.

If this photo is accurate, wrong spot for the APU I think.  Maybe tires/gear?

Agree, Walks.  Initial reports indicated the a/c caught fire at the gate, but now it's being reported the flight was diverted to Denver for an IFE.  Deplaned passengers also reported smelling smoke while landing.  Never heard of a commercial jet being pulled up to the jetway while on fire.  I think somebody has some 'spaining to do.

Which is safer? Or should I just wait for something better?

Interesting that a bunch of videos by aviation people on YouTube are mentioning how quickly the Trump Administration FAA and national transportation and safety folks have acted in banning helicopter flights near the landing path of Reagan international in Washington DC.

There's also a lot of people addressing the fact that all of the near collisions was ignored for 4 years, during which the numbers increased.

Today's nightmare

Hey Walks--

Any background on that mishap?  Can't figure out what type a/c?  My first thought was a Yugo Galeb/Jastreb, but both the Brits (Jet Provost/Strikemaster) and Italians (MB-339) have/had straight wing trainers with wing tanks.  Even the Spanish have had a few similar a/c, including the somewhat vintage trainer called Saeta. Could also be an L-29.
