That's impressive, low and slow is stall territory.  Would have been interesting to have been on that flight as a passenger.

Lemme guess:  White, male, military veteran as a pilot...

A little off topic while remaining on topic.

Anyone remember this movie? I haven't watched it in years but it would definitely make my desert island list. Fantastic and fun film.

I think the book on which the movie was based was better than the movie. The book got a huge, and totally unexpected, boost as it released about the same time Belanko defected from the USSR after flying his MiG-25 to Japan.

Dream liner down in India shortly after take off.  Internet claiming the flaps were not down - which would be bad.

Other internet sources claim that the flaps were down but then raised and that the aircraft had the ram air turbine deployed.  That would indicate engine woes.

Also saw this warning posted.  Seems like solid advice.

For the love of God please be careful seeking out footage of the crash, especially the crash site. I have seen some shit I can never unsee. Horifically graphic.

Supposedly one passenger made it somehow.  Not only made it but could walk around and shush off some reporters.

Probably hot as balls there so that might explain the long take off run - lower air density and heavy load.

Could also indicate hydraulic failure, which might explain why the flaps didn't stay down.

Yeah who knows.  Apparently that airline isn't real great on maintenance.

First 787 to go down - awful.

Wow, lots of possibilities there.

It would be natural to ask the religious and political beliefs of the pilot(s).

Of the two pilots that I know who are certified for the big boys, both are extremely disconnected non-emotional people. If this pilot is screaming like a little girl or praising his god, I think that would answer much for us.

I don't think DEI is in that part of the world. I think it's more political and familial/tribal affinities that are involved.

It's Wiki, but it is a good summary of what's been happening...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_India_Flight_171

Air India Flight 171 was a scheduled international passenger flight operated by Air India from Ahmedabad Airport in India to London Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom. On 12 June 2025, at 13:38 IST, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operating the flight crashed, approximately thirty seconds after takeoff, into the hostel block of B. J. Medical College in the Meghaninagar neighbourhood of Ahmedabad.

The aircraft was carrying 230 passengers and 12crew members. Only a single passenger survived. At least 33 people on the ground were killed. The accident is the first fatal crash and hull loss involving the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

He makes a compelling argument.
