You mean the COD and postage fees?  Not sure they were attempting scams.  Probably trying to make it easier for people to buy stuff.   COD was quite common back in the 50s.  Though it must have been a headache for mail carriers to make transactions at people's homes & carry the money around on their route.  I did some research and found that the US Postal Service tried to do away with COD some years back though it's still available, but with rural carriers only.  Some of these ads had a higher fee listed, for those who didn't mind paying for the product ahead of time, and therefore didn't have to bother with a COD payment.

Yeah the mullet is back!  Didn't roll with the mullet back then so won't now.  If I were ever to go bald, the skullet would be a must though.
