Today’s Thought of the Dave!
What does Remembrance Day / Veterans Day mean you you?
I have had grandfathers serve in Korea. 4 uncles and a father serve in Vietnam. I was in during Desert Storm (original gulf war.)
There is a lot of sacrafice people never truly understand. While we were lucky enough to have nobody lose there life in Vietnam, my uncles/father lost their cousin.
War sucks. Combat is nasty. You see things you cannot truly explain. Hell, you don't want to explain it. But you serve your country when called upon. Often times a way too large part of that country either does not care or mistreats you. But you still serve.
Veterans day is a time to remember that there are a small percentage of the population who have endured and been exposed to things the majority would not even be able to imagine. A time to remember that our safety and existence as a nation is never free. A time to remember those who gave so much and had their lives changed for the rest of their lives to serve the country you are blessed enough to be part of.
