i am now windows free. the last win10 box (i used it for music on sunday nights) failed me for the last time. it got blown away in favor of debian buster this morn. its now a headless linux machine, accessed via vnc, like most of the rest of my linux (and bsd) boxes.

at work we are all windows 10.
at home i use linux for streaming (windows has failed me there) capturing/encoding video/audio, editing said video/audio , plex, and a multitude of other tasks.

It installed Libre Office, and I found within the software manager Scribus (a desktop publishing program), Sigil (an epub editing program) and WINE.
Scrivener is a paid writing organization program. I downloaded the Windows version and installed it with WINE, and it works just fine after getting used to the idea that the program thinks it is saving to a C: drive when it's actually saving to my home directory. Jutoh is another writing program that has a Linux version.  I'll probably download and test that.
This is all much more reliable than it was a few years ago.

I ran any OS required to make me money I made a shit ton off of M$ and I have zero hate for it. I run the big three, MS, Mac and Fedora for me, though I've run many types of *nix. Whatever gets the job done.

+1 for that - which puts you at an even 100.   

BTW - I tried out ioGNU. (4GB ISO) running the 32-bit on my old lappy. The realtime kernel didn't lock up the system, but the standard (sid) kernel did. Needs a minumum of 4GB RAM to run properly (My ancient box has 1GB - lol) but it did work okay.   
Yeah, headless is the way to go though, for what you're doing.
