I’m going through a Michael Crichton phase the last couple of months. I just finished Sphere tonight. It was a quick fun read, a bit easy to guess but enjoyable. So far I have a bit of a love/hate thing going on. I love how action packed and quick paced scenes can be BUT he always gets a little preachy at least a couple of times during any given book. Granted, I’ve only read three so far so maybe this formula doesn’t hold up for all his stuff?

Yeah he can get preachy with the cautionary tale bit.  I really liked the book Congo and was so excited to learn that there would be a movie.  Waited a year for it to come out.  Went to Taco Bell before the opening and got the Congo watch they had - "Collect all three".  Then watched the film and was dismayed at how horrid it was with the bad ape suites.  People that saw the movie were calling it "Con-Don't-Go".

OK - I just put Congo on hold in my Libby ap. You sold me with the ape drinking a martini.

Maybe most of his movies are like Stephen Kings- 90% bad. I  watched Sphere after finishing the book (I mean come on Sharon Stone AND Queen Latifa- yes please!) it was womp womp bad

Which one of you does this gem of clickacy belong to? If you have to take a test the answer is either yes or you’re a switch hitter. You’re welcome for the PSA

The kid asked: what’s the weirdest thing you ever ate?

Spousal Unit: eel cheese  :o

Me: live termites from a stick dipped into their termite mound  :P

His question would have been a successful thread here back in busier times.

So what if the answer to the weirdest thing one ate was a slice of roasted Pigman?

Monkey. Monkey meat, and was not made aware of it until after the odd tasting meal.

Didn't taste like chicken.
Tasted like.. Lucy  :-\

Bart, I’m starting to worry you may be a tad boring. :-\

I mean, have you ever met a piece of pig you didn’t like?

I finished this book up a couple of nights ago. It was a fun one! I was a little bummed with the mostly happy ending but it stayed fast paced, which i like. This was doubly fun because I’ve been working on a trip to the Virunga Mtns (but the Rwandan side, not the DRC). Thanks for the rec @Walks_At_Night , I’ll be sure to skip the movie.
